Madras Check · Chennai, Tamil Nadu

The story behind the print

Woven on looms in Madras, now Chennai, in cotton light enough for the heat. The colours were traditionally dyed to bleed softly in the wash, so the cloth changes with you. A check that travelled across the world and still feels like home.

We took that story and gave it a modern, quiet shape, something to wear, use and keep, with the patience of the original still in it. This design is inspired by the tradition and printed with modern methods.
