A little tradition. A little geometry. A story that continues.

Inspired by the intricate Kolam floor art of Tamil Nadu, this SĀNTI graphic T-shirt brings a timeless visual tradition into contemporary everyday style.

The design features delicate, interwoven white lines and dotted details, creating a flowing pattern that feels both intricate and beautifully balanced. A subtle Kolam-inspired motif sits on the front, while a larger version of the artwork makes a statement across the back.

Rooted in the visual language of South Indian heritage, the design celebrates the beauty of symmetry, continuity and everyday creativity.

Style it with relaxed denim, linen trousers or your favourite everyday layers. The Art of Welcoming · A Kolam Story

Before the day begins, before the streets grow busy, a quiet tradition unfolds at the doorsteps of homes across Tamil Nadu.

With a handful of rice flour, women draw delicate patterns on the ground — dots placed with care, lines flowing into loops, each movement forming a design that has lived in memory for generations.

This is Kolam: an everyday art of welcome, balance and belonging.

Traditionally drawn at the entrance of a home, Kolam is more than decoration. It is a gesture of hospitality, a wish for prosperity and a reminder that beauty can be found in the simplest daily rituals. The rice flour also offers food to tiny creatures, turning an act of artistry into an act of generosity.

Many designs are learned from mothers and grandmothers, remembered, practised and recreated with each new morning. Some disappear as the day passes, only to return again at sunrise.

Inspired by the flowing lines and intricate geometry of Sikku Kolam, SĀNTI reimagines this visual language as a contemporary graphic. The continuous white lines and delicate dots honour the rhythm and balance of the tradition while giving it a new expression.

A design rooted in welcome. A tradition carried forward.

Because some of the most beautiful forms of heritage are not kept behind glass — they are lived, shared and renewed every day.

The story behind the print

At dawn, before the day begins, a kolam is drawn at the doorstep in rice flour: dots first, then looping lines. It welcomes whoever walks in, and feeds the ants and the birds. By evening it is gone, and tomorrow it will be drawn again.

We took that story and gave it a modern, quiet shape, something to wear, use and keep, with the patience of the original still in it. This design is inspired by the tradition and printed with modern methods.
